Cooking Class--little bit of chicken..little bit of bread pudding and lot of "charm"!

So my pants size has again gone up after listening to the stories and reading recipes from last night's cooking class. And after hearing of the very nice young gentleman who was one of the students, I am very glad I wasn't sitting at the table next to him while my pants popped from eating too much of the delicious food!

This class enjoyed learning how to start with a simple breaded chicken and by changing a few ingredients, turned it into three separate recipes. Think..Foccacia Sundried Tomato Pesto & Goat Cheese, Chicken Picatta, Saltimbuca, and Cordon Bleu. YUMMY!! The chefs started with a Bechamel, that then they turned into a cheese sauce for Mac and Cheese, then turning that into a Gorgonzola and Bacon Cheese Sauce.

So if you aren't already hooked and want to sign on for the next class..wait till you hear about dessert. Bread Pudding. The class while readjusting the buttons on their pants, and secretly, or not so secretly admiring the mystery student, "Joey" we will call him, then learned how to make 4 recipes from this simple classic one. One of the students told us that she not only had a great evening but really is exciting about next week being in the kitchen and being hands on! That's how we roll here at The Bistro, giving the people what they want.

So I don't know about you but after writing these food blogs, I am left with mixed feelings...bloated and starved beyond belief? How is that possible? I am hoping that soon they will start a weight loss class so that all of us gaining weight on these recipes are soon able to take it back off....or we won't have a chance with "Joey".

Again..another wonderful night of making new friends, making new foods, and coming together for a fabulous evening. What else do you expect at The Bistro?

Next week's class, two of this week's star students, Carrie and Amelia will be the Sous Chefs...you know what they say about too many chefs in the kitchen...stay tuned!!

Vendor of The Day--Woof Woof!!

So let's see how do I start a blog about pets when pets don't usually have any part of a typical Bistro. But as we all know, The Bistro at Our Town in Exton is not the typical bistro. Let me first start by saying, if you haven't stopped in to find out what we are all about, do it today! You won't regret it...Lukie sure didn't! And he is very smart, but had a hard time writing today so he asked if I could write this for him? Woof Woof...

Ok so who is Lukie you ask? Well he is a 175lb St. Bernard who needed a babysitter. Remember, Our Town helps you find just the right professional suited for your need. So when one of our customers needed a dog sitter...we knew just who to call!
Uncle's Dog Walking Service. Andy Brundage, the owner and operator of Uncle's has compassion and unconditional love for animals that we all desire when looking for someone to care for our pets. We know pets are part of your family and we want you to have the best care when it comes to your family, including your pets. Uncle's provides dog walking, daily and overnight babysitting throughout central Chester County.
I wanted to share with you the email I received about Andy after our customer hired him to sit for Lukie, just to show you how amazing and exceptional the vendors we refer to you really are.

" Andy was thorough, trustworthy and actually left a report card for Lukie. I loved knowing how everything went so the report card really was an added bonus when we arrived home. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a pet sitter, or just looking for someone to let pets out and care for them during the day. Andy took care of Lukie as we would, and that made me feel so secure knowing that Andy was the one there caring for him. Thanks so much for your help! Lukie and our family are very thankful!s you would"

---Lukie & his family

Next time you are in need of a pet-sitter call Andy, he can provide love and compassion for your animals while you are away, whether for a few hours or a few days.

What can I say...The Bistro at Our Town has gone to the dogs...but as long as we have Andy and Uncle's Dog Walking Service along to help, we are sure to be ok!

Bon appétit Chef Laurent

So The Bistro is always looking for ways to be diverse and we seem to always do things with a bit of flair. Last night was no exception. Chef Laurent Leveque, owner of Fleur de Lys Catering sponsored his very first sit down dinner at The Bistro. Chef Laurent attended culinary school in France and specializes in French Cuisine. I am sure it came to no surprise to the guests who attended, he is also an artist when food is involved. His menu included:
Winter Greens Mesclum Salad with dried cranberries, honey glazed Pecans, winter pears, and raspberry vinaigrette.
The second course included Pan Seared Scallop: pan seared, smoked and sea salt dusted Sea Scallops, Leak and Mint Fondue, Vanilla and crushed black pepper scented butter cream sauce. The entree was Pork Tenderloin, marinated in a blend of Mexican spices with a Tequila, cilantro and lime juice sauce. The Pork was served with a Paelle style rice: Saffron rice with Spanish Chorizo, green pea and green onion, along with roasted red pepper. And in case you haven't gained weight just from reading this post, as I did when I read his menu, the dessert was to die for. Praline Pumpkin Cheesecake with a Sea Sale Caramel Sauce. Need I say more?

The crowd was made up of some of The Bistro's Regular customers, some new and some of Chef Laurents loyal customers. With the romantic piano playing in the background, the ambiance of the Bistro, and Chef's incredibly exquisite display of food, it felt as though you were in France.

So if you are up for a trip away...why not stop into The Bistro at Our Town? We can either help you escape from the winter duldrums through a delicious cultured meal right here in Our Home away from home in Exton, or we can help recommend a great travel agent who can help wisk you away to a beautiful location!!

See you soon!
